    Default Fridge crapped out......

To start with, Sorry Mods I realize this would be more fit somewhere else on this site, but I wanted to reach as many of the members in as short of a time.

Now for the rest of the story......

My refrigerator crapped rcently and I didn't notice until just a few hours ago when I noticed the melted ice cubes dripping onto the floor underneath and slowly flowing out into the kitchen. By then though it was too late, the freezer contents had thawed until soft to the touch. And of course the wife had went grocery shopping a few day ago.

The reason for this thread is not to rant a rave, but rather to see if anyone wants a broken (locked compressor ) Admiral 25 cu. side by side for parts. This is about 12 years old.

The ice maker and bin are in good working order. All interior part are undamaged, bins shelves etc....
Or, if anyone would want this to gut out for a hidden gun safe project , all the doors & hinges are good undamaged shape.

I will be out shopping for a new refrigerator in a few minutes, but keep this offer open until delivery of a new refrigerator arrives and pay extra to have the old one hauled off.

I will update this thread when I have a date of delivery for the new one.

    * UPDATE * The new fridge is due to be delivered sometime on Monday.

When I read the title I thought you were going to talk about how Antifa or someone like that had failed.

Our fridge died about a year ago so we went and bought another one. When I pulled the old one out I noticed a ton of dog hair and lint that had built up under and behind it causing the compressor to seize up. When I hit it with the shop vac the fridge started running like new (so we sold it at a garage sale)

Oops, could a Mod fix the title please.......

This definatly a siezed compressor, I've replaced enough electric motors to recognize the sound of a locked rotor. And the thermal protection kicking in. Then when the thermal protection cools off after a couple of minutes and resets, the distinctive hum of a locked rotor electric motor until the thermal protection kicks in again. Lather, rinse and repeat.......

It's already been edited. It originally said "Fringe crapped out."

If it was still cold but thawed soft. I'd make use of it for dinner and can probably save a lot of meat and maybe some other stuff by cooking it now, then can refreeze in new freezer or at least keep for a few days in fridge.

Like in another thread recently, people are a scosh hyper sensitive about bad food.

Depending on where you buy the new one, they usually haul off the old one for free. They did mine.

    Yep, to that deal too......

Let me tell you something, since the original post, I told the wife to go pick out and get what she wants, and accordingly, she has bought Three different refrigerators and has canceled the order on the first two. After the third purchase I told her that this is it no more shopping for refrigerators.

The down side to the new purchase is that after its delivery I will probably need to upgrade the other kitchen appliances to match the finish (stainless) on the new fridge........

We're going thru this same ordeal. The fridge is fine, but the freezer is on it's last leg. We have an odd-sized built in space for a fridge and separate freezer in the kitchen. We have a fridge without freezer and an upright freezer in the space now. But the stuff they make now is mostly too big to fit the space. Or, if it'll fit, the appliance is way too small. We can't modify the space because the cabinets/cupboards are built in around the space.

There aren't a lot of choices in freezerless refrigerators out there.
