    Lots of $ for what would be about a 10hp equivalent? I think I would want a touch more of a frame and maybe a rollbar.

    300 pounds of force, not horsepower. Loosely, in a wheeled vehicle, 300 pound is about 10 horse. You were looking at the general family, not the soecific unit on this gocart.
