Yep. We need it on the record to hold them accountable.

Yeah, because holding them accountable worked so well in the last election. All the recalled seats went right back to D.

Sen John Morse's seat did go to an anti gun Democrat, Mike Merrifield. But Evie Hudak's seat is currently held by a very pro-gun Republican, Laura Woods. And the person holding Sen. Angela Giron's old seat was replaced with a Democrat, Leroy Garcia. Sen Garcia has a mixed record on guns, when he was a Representative in the Colorado House in 2013 he did vote against final passage of the high capacity magazine ban, and against CBI charging gun purchasers a tax on their purchase. Then Rep Garcia did vote for the private sale background check bill. He also voted against HB 13-1226, which would have barred CHP holders from carrying at colleges (that bill passed the House but was killed in the Senate).

So three anti gun Democrats were replaced with one anti-gun Democrat, one pro-gun Republican and one Democrat who has a mixed record on guns. The pro-gun Republican also represents the one vote majority Republicans have in the State Senate, a change from before the recalls when both chambers were majority Democrat.

I went to school with Pat Neville. He was one of the very few people who's name I even knew during college.

There's a bill working it's way thru the process for expanded no-permit carry here in Idaho. The law here is a bit confusing...you don't need a permit to carry concealed as long as you don't enter city limits (includes having a gun in your car). Statewide open carry is allowed. The bill would just remove the "inside city limits" part. Permit process wouldn't change so carry in other states wouldn't be affected.

Probably a better chance of passing here than in CO. But I'm hopeful the pendulum will swing this year in CO...who knows?

ETA: Mrs BG got stopped by a trooper for 80/65 about a week ago. Against my previous advice she told trooper she had a loaded gun in the car. According to her he smiled and said, "We have this little game we play here. Don't show me yours and I won't show you mine." Then he gave her a warning for speeding.

That's a good trooper there. I like that -- much better than the one who asked me why I felt the need for a CCW permit before he gave me my warning.

Same reason I carry first aid kits: I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Why does this have to go through the finance committee?
