I'm assuming that's because the Air Force Academy and Annapolis wouldn't let him in?
Tell him congrats! Help him to learn some humility BEFORE HE GETS THERE. It'll be invaluable.

Well done. Hopefully he maintains that drive and motivation well beyond West Point. Our military needs better leadership.
