    If a round goes off, it isn't dry firing.

    I'm sure it will get plead down to whatever the prosecutor thinks will cover the cost of stupid in public.

    Method for making unfamiliar weapons safe.
    Pointed in a safe direction and keeping your finger off of the trigger, remove the source of ammunition. Once the source of ammunition has been removed, cycle the action of the weapon to ensure there are no rounds present. If possible lock the action open. A cheap plastic ballpoint pen in the ejection port, allowing the slide to partially close on the pen functions as a safe chamber indicator.
