Huh, truth in the media does exist!

It does say paid advertisement at the top.
Not that I don't agree with the statements. But the only way that will make it into a paper is to pay them lots of cash. I wonder if this is how the democrats get so many stories published. They've bought the papers.

there are a lot of ads like that popping up.

I have seen several while gone, especially out in the south. almost every day there is something in there a full page blaming all the democrats and obama and pelosi for the problems.

I was telling my fiance tonight that I REALLY think there needs to be a term limit for congressman and senators. and presidents only need 1 term. extend it to 5 or 6 years, but only 1 term. no more of this bullshit wasting the last 2 years campaigning for the next term when they should be focusing on the problems at hand.

I couldn't agree more. Limit their terms and drop their insurance and coverage as soon as their ass hits the door. Just like us... if they want to pick up the Cobra plan then have at it.

I couldn't have said it better myself RRD3 & Sniper7. We continue to have these people forcing us into programs that take & take from us but give us nothing in return except heartache and more government dependence yet they ensure that they will never have to be subject to these programs.

Today the news was reporting that it's expected that Social Security payments will be going down for most recipients. Knowing that, by law this can't happen, my interest was peaked. How this will occur is two-fold. The government says that they will not be giving cost-of-living (cola) increases to Social Security recipients for several years and, at the same time, the costs of their Medicare/Medicaid WILL be going up -- they lose money. Do you think that this will directly affect even 1 member/former member of CONgress or the Presidency? Not hardly.

I agree about the social security. BUT they did just receive a 5% increase this year when other costs went down.

Realistically, I understand the good social security does, but for all the people that pay into it, if they would just take that money themselves instead of being forced to have it taken in taxes, put it into a 401K and that could be their retirement money.
people are living longer and receiving social security for what could be longer than they worked putting money into the program. they are essentially receiving more than they put in. of course it will be upside down in a matter of time.

I am 24. I am writing off social security, medicare, and medicaid. I am going to focus on saving enough in my 401K accounts and living within my means to survive on that money alone. If by some chance in hell social security is still around then i will be lucky enough to have some extra cash. More than likely by that point it will just be enough to cover all the extra taxes being imposed over the years.

I really don't like the idea of having to count on the government for help or to cover your ass. What ever happened to personal responsibility?

Personal responsibility left us when the government was left unrestrained to direct our lives and protect us from ourselves and when our society as a whole became lazy enough to let them.

I'm receiving 1 pension (yeah, but it's from Uncle Sam ~ military), working on my second career that has both a pension and a 401k which I'm throwing all I can realistically afford into (3/4 of any raises...I keep 1/4 to pay myself). When it comes time to retire for real, I should be able to live comfortably.

i think .mil guys should get retirement after 10 years, even if it was at a pro-rated amount. service to the country should be getting paid.
