I knew the entire time that if it did get in front of the judge it'd be thrown out in 2 seconds. It would be hilarious to see that cop try to explain to the judge how offensive speech is against the law.

I mean, running around yelling "anus" and "penis" at sorority girls is pretty weird. Not sure why he would do that.

But that being said, that cop should not have written him a ticket. I would have told him it's weird and disrespectful so cut that shit out.

And as a uniformed officer saying that you can expect the response to be some variation of "Or you will do what?"

Don't give an ultimatum you can't back up. If you throw it down, expect someone to pick it up and throw it back at you.

Lines you can enforce: No physical contact. No blocking access or exits. No destruction of public or private property.

I didn't say anything about an ultimatum, just because he is a uniformed officer doesn't mean he can't offer some coaching on how to be a decent human being. It's pretty narrow minded to think the officer only option is to strictly enforce/not enforce. If the kid doesn't listen, then whatever. No one is going to want to be around him.

For almost every protest I've ever been near, there have been counter protesters. Plenty of people are attracted to these types of street preachers. Often more anti-whatever is being preached gather to challenge or taunt these people.

Monitoring demonstrations is a normal activity for police officers. Taking sides is almost always a bad idea regardless of your personal opinions.

Speaking with authority is often knowing when to speak, knowing what to say, and knowing what you can back up. Otherwise, you are just shooting the breeze with the other protesters. I've found it better to just remain quiet and observant. Let your actions speak for you.

    Be safe.
