Default Glock or Colt 9mm AR lower?

I am considering building a dedicated 9mm AR and I've seen lowers being offered for both a Glock magazine and a Colt magazine. JoeBob's has a 80% lower for Glock, but the uppers are always sold out. There are others who sell 80% lowers for the Colt magazine. Which one do you think? Or is it really just personal preference of metal mags verses plastic mags? The prices for each are about the same.

I went with a glock lower for mine. Easier to find mags for it imo... I already have plenty, but I'm not worried about not finding any locally. It'll take all the glock 9mm mags.. 19, 17.. 33rd.. Hell I could turn it to a .40 with just a barrel swap.

For the uppers, well.. depending on what lower you go with you can use any upper.. the qc10 work with a variety of uppers. They have their own, but they'll also run just about any one.

I was in the process of building my QC-10 glock 9mm lower before I heard these were coming out this year.

For the price, I do not think you can build one cheaper. Being a factory rifle, I am holding out for one of these. I saw one for sale in Colorado Springs and it was around $1,100 IIRC.

I prefer the colt version and built mine as such. I've got plenty of Colt SMG mags.

i've had the same question, but i am leaning towards the glock, especially given the 33 round mags available that i'm sure you pre-stocked prior to the ban.

I understand the reasons for making a dedicated 9mm using the Colt design pistol upper. But have your considered a Oly design which Colt multiple times has tried to acquire so they could make those instead of their own? No dedicated lower needed. The new Oly mags are plastic but STEN mags are still plentiful and cheap if you use a block.

I am running Oly design and a couple of my friends have went the Colt design and sold them to get the Oly design.

The only real drawback to the Oly design is you dont get to fuss with it to get it to run reliably. They run great out of the box.

Nfa the maker of that 80% lower has their upper which has a working bho. You can build using any colt upper and modify the bolt or buy just the bolt. The bho will not work without factory upper though

Glock mags are metal lined but magpul has proven that to be a non issue

Piece the upper together. BBl is 10.5" GM, CMMG BCG (i profiled it for the glock mag) upper, float tune, grip LPK ALL from the parts bin.
Ti can is F1 with SDTA brake. total $$ Less can & stamp $500. I might cut the bbl back another 4" I put a RDS after pics taken

I would use a New Frontier Armory upper and lower, they are price right and have good reviews. Hopefully, I'll be building a 8" pistol later this year. Good luck

if if you are going colt mag.... CMMG has so impressive uppers and lowers... Ask the guys at the shop about them.
