I am running Oly design and a couple of my friends have went the Colt design and sold them to get the Oly design.

The only real drawback to the Oly design is you dont get to fuss with it to get it to run reliably. They run great out of the box.
I'm old school and Oly didn't have the best reputation for the longest time. They may have improved vastly since then, but the prejudice still exists.

I was leaning in that direction; however, they can't keep their uppers in stock. I don't know when they will get more.

Something like that link can be built for under $1K PROVIDING you go with a sig brace. OR Form 1 , then add stock
Yup! I am cheap and I build things item by item as I can afford them. I think this build will be my first foray into the SBR world. I have to read your post you did earlier about the changes coming down to determine which way to go.

For the price, I do not think you can build one cheaper. Being a factory rifle, I am holding out for one of these. I saw one for sale in Colorado Springs and it was around $1,100 IIRC.
I was just going to suggest them. Let me know if you're interested, I can help you get an upper/lower set.

I went old school with a magwell block on a standard lower receiver. I built my 9mm as a pistol and wanted the option to be able to swap uppers to other calibers, especially if I ever get around to registering it as an SBR. I don't have the bolt hold open with this mag block, but otherwise I have been happy with it.

Honest question here. I've noticed more and more people building 9mm AR rifles. What's the attraction? Can't see it being a ballistic advantage over the other caliber options available in the AR platform. Build price is cheaper? Or is it the new Black? Thanks.

PCC that uses glock mags goes with glock pistol. Having 2 platforms utilizing the same mag is the attraction. When traveling we bring an assortment of personal protection with us. The spouse likes her 26 for "on person" carry and the JRC as small carbine. 1 mag feeds 2 guns, keeping inventory of mags taken, down to 1 (for her)
I can also bring my ddles (now QC10) built pistol as fall back unit, depending what state we're going to & through

Easier to build (no gas block or gas tube), cheaper and way fun to shoot!

I went with Colt mags over Glock mags because they are easier to load.

For me they are just a absolute blast to shoot, suppress very nicely, 9mm is easy and cheap to reload etc. I have several PCC's SBR's now and probably shoot them more then any other guns in my collection.

I went Colt as well, I can't stand the look of the Glock lowers and the way the magazine angles backwards. Just an aesthetics thing for me.

I own 2 of the Colts as one wasn't enough! If you keep your eyes open on GB complete kits minus the lower pop up fairly regularly on there for $6-700. They are from demilled LE sub guns and will make a great start for the build. You can use any AR lower or a dedicated from Rock River or CMMG and you will have a great shooter! Uzi mags also work with a little Dremel work to modify them. Try this one http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=557704961
