I did, but only with the side of a cinder block and whatever weight I could muster while working under that fence.

You might water it heavy but dont erode the sand. before you back fill. Let it drain and check for level again. If you get in that position again just soak it Before you build

Why did you build the fence so high off of the ground to begin with?

The yard isn't quite level across the span of the fence, so I chose a level fence line, knowing that I'd have some areas higher than others. Also, I like the high fence line since the house behind me is higher than my house (what's the point of the fence if they can still see right into your yard right?). Finally, the height of the fence was not a problem until I found out that the other dog digs. The gap between the fence and the ground was not as pronounced when first built. I didn't know the other dog liked to dig because the original fence was a chain link buried into the ground with 40 years worth of Lillac bushes growing through it, so no dogs really ever got near enough to the fence to cause any problems. The barrier WAS nice looking, but the bushes started dying and looking terrible, so I tore it all out. It will look nice again, it is just taking much more time and labor than I can dedicate in a weekend or two, or three or four.

I needed to look up this thread for info on another project that I'm doing, and thought I'd post an update on how this wall is holding together. It's only been 2.5 years, but nothing has moved and everything looks good still.

I only had one chicken at the time, so it didn't matter once she killed it. Later she tried to get my cat and she got a round house to her chest while jumping up in the air. She didn't hang around much after that. Then they moved anyway.

Yep, they love looking at themselves. The young ones spend a significant part of the day standing in front of it.
