    Default Red Rocks tickets advise

So I've lived in Denver for 8 years and haven't seen a show at red rocks. My wife and I were excited about Eric Church coming to red rocks on the 10th of August. My sister and her husband were going to fly out.

So we decided to buy for reserve tickets, it was my understanding that with an American Express card I could buy early but it did not work it said they were already sold out whenever we tried the pre sale. so then my wife tried to buy four tickets this morning when they went on sale at 10 o'clock and there was nothing available. Now I see that there are sites that offer tickets for at least twice the price if not more, is this typical?

I don't think I can stomach paying a scalper. Is this just the way it is with red rocks? Thanks guys.

Ive never had any sort of luck getting tickets via the online places for things like this. The site always freezes, produces "no tickets found", etc. Then tickets double in price and I just wont spend that money. I was looking a bit the other day and prices were like 125+ each. No thanks.

This is typical. They'll release more tickets closer to the date of the show.. They know scalping goes on... they allow it. Fairly certain the venue sells large blocks of tickets to the resale sites and gets a kick back.

Have you checked stubhub? Also, the closer to the event, the more tickets come available as people have cancellations, etc.

I've had great luck with stubhub in getting sears to concerts, ballgames, etc.--here in Denver and out of town. And the tix are guaranteed, and often instant transfer

Right now stubhub has them at double the price. What type of person does this?

    Not setup well for fans.

Really? it's called supply & demand. I find browsing CL, westword and other local papers usually produces tickets. It comes down to how much one wants to pay. Like others said closer to concert day tickets will show up, discounted

Very true. It's just frustrating and I'm venting. People want to make money and do no work.

That's called opportunity. Buy Low, Sell high. Like the stock market, PM's. real estate and firearms

Yep, back in the day before all this technology we have you had to go down and buy tickets and wait in line. Or get then from a "scalper" in the parking lot. I always managed to find a good deal though. Now we have all these "ticket brokers" which is legalized scalping. It sucks for sure, makes it where the average person can't afford to go see a show or game.

Didn't they out-hustle you to get the tickets? Who the hell are you to judge how someone makes a living? Don't want to pay? Then don't. Nobody's got a gun to your head.

Or, note that time and flexibility are on your side. You can easily get tickets closer to the event for face value or less if you are patient.
