Benchmade in stock locally?

I don't think it's designed for hard use, but it's fine for daily duty.

That makes my decision tough. I'm looking for a daily carry knife but knives are one thing I'm a bit rough on. I know the 530 is thin and light and the handle is made out of plastic and that's why I'd like to handle one in person before buying one.

Is that a Spyderco? I've had a few over the years but have given up on them and thought I'd try something else. In fact, I just tossed my last one in the trash a week or two ago.



Honestly, I'm not planning on carrying this at work. I've actually started carrying a Boker stockman for work duties. I use one blade for just about everything, a second blade for some less daunting tasks, and try not to use the third blade and keep it for a reserve in case the other two get too dull or damaged between sharpenings.

I tend to do things with my knives that you aren't supposed to do. Like remove screws, pry on things, lay cardboard down on metal grating and cut the cardboard (dinging the blade on the grating in the process), scrape stubborn gaskets off of cast iron parts, and other stupidity. Hoping to get something a bit lighter than what I normally carry hoping not using it at work will allow it to last a while.

I'm guessing you'll really need to just handle it and see for yourself. I'm not hard on knives at all (the only manual labor I do is in a gym), and even I thought it seemed flimsy. I had the one with G10 handle, and it was quite light. With all that said, because I'm not hard on knives, I wish I wouldn't have traded the Pardue away, it worked perfect for my uses. The Spyderco Manix II and the Zero Tolerance (which I carry now) are just a bit heafty for my needs.
