    Default Waste Removal help

Well, I've finally been able to find some time to do some house projects that have been long neglected. Foremost is tearing down a rotting deck and shed. I don't have easy access to a truck and it's $60 a load to take to the dump anyways. It's not burnable wood. So.... Who do I call that can come pick up this junk/trash and haul it away? I tried looking up "trash hauler" but they only take regular trash. I tried looking up and calling a demo/restoration place, but they only haul away if they make the mess. Any leads?

I still have this little shed to tear down too. I had to kill a major hornets nest in it. I also can't seem to see how to detach it from the main house... I see one nail on the backside that I took off but there is something else there and I don't want to mess up the siding... Thoughts? I plan to finish this project hopefully sometime this weekend so when I find a trash mover they can take it all.

    thoughts? Thank you.

If the wood is cedar you could stack it and list it on freecycle or craigslist. Do you have a bulk pick up or landfill day in the Springs/El Paso County? Borrow my truck and a couple of days before your free landfill day and haul away.

Log onto your local city website and see what services they offer. It might not be the best deal, but they should have something. As for the shed, see if there are any trim pieces that could be removed that might be covering mounting hardware.

start chopping it up into manageable pieces and dispose of in trash cans each week. Gone before you know it.

Also works with couches, other misc. household furniture.
Sometimes people trip and fall down stairs.
Sometimes assholes push people down stairs.
That doesn't mean "stairs are bad" nor does it make someone who pushes someone down the stairs any less of an asshole.

Rgr, thanks for the ideas. I had it in my head that there was a company with a lift and a dump truck that could come get it... Couldn't/can't think of the proper name for it. Guess small chunks in the trash and craigslist is the way to go. Thank you.

    A couple ideas...

You could pay one of those 1-800-GOT-JUNK (or similar) services. They show up with a bunch of guys and just haul whatever you have away. I've never used them, but know some people who have. They are expensive. I doubt you'd get away for less than $350 - and maybe a lot more??

Waste Management "Bagster" - says it's approx $140. You get a mini-dumpster-bag you fill up, and they haul it away. You might need a couple though, so at that point, you're into a rolloff-dumpster. If you know your neighbors well, there's a good chance some might spring for sharing a dumpster for a week - it is spring cleaning season after all.

I'd also call Waste Management or whoever you use. In a lot of areas they have a once-a-month "extra" pickup where they will take furniture and other large junk on certain days.

Personally, if it were me I'd put it on craigslist to see if you get any takers, and then dump some of what's left in the trash each week. But I know that feeling when you just want it gone NOW too.

Stack the wood neatly at the curb with a free sign, it'll be gone in no time.

Nah, put a "For Sale" on it.
Guaranteed to be gone the next day.

True story- a buddy of mine had one of those old console TV/Stereo/Turntable set ups. Gorgeous piece of furniture and everything worked well.
He set it by the curb with a "Free" sign on it.
    It sat for a week.
He put a "For Sale" sign on it and it was gone the next morning.
