5 miles away from us, we were actually close to there the other day, wife wanted to show me Jackass Hill Park lol.

It's a horrible thing to be sure, but the sooner folks realize this "too close to home" mindset isn't reality, and bad stuff can happen anywhere, the better of we'll all be. Do I feel bad for the victims? Absolutely, but I'm not going to have some big emotional and scary event over it, because I know bad stuff is happening everywhere, and I know I'm not exempt from bad stuff happening to me, which is why I prepare the best that I can.

Prayers to the victims and their families, I hope the person responsible is served justice.

I know the detective working the case. They think they whole "car jacking" story is bullshit. The one victim who was shot in the ankle is now cooperating more, but was rather "reluctant" with the initial investigation. Sucks the guy lost his life. So far no real leads on suspects.

We left littleton 22 yrs ago. Seeing "gang tags" and other graffiti was one of the reasons for moving.

As mentioned "IT" can and does happen anywhere. From the gated community to the ghetto.

Except by then either the ability for self defense or self defense itself will be outlawed (probably both) and the sheep will be bleating for the military to be deployed within the borders to "restore order". They will restore order and make the trains run on time, too. And that's how the US ends with a whimper. The people need to ask for their country to be destroyed, it doesn't come top-down (except via manipulation of the citizens). And I fear we're past the point of no return.

(Sorry, your statement came very close to scenarios I've been running in my head for some time).

YOU are the first responder. Police, fire and medical are SECOND responders.
When seconds count, the police are mere minutes away...
Gun registration is gun confiscation in slow motion.

    It's a strange location/time for a simple carjacking.

Great location/time to do other things.

Heard it was "similar" to something that happened in Lone Tree a couple days earlier.
    My speculation:
Car jacking of a plow driver gone bad. Drove truck down the street and set it on fire to cause a diversion for more time to get away.

^^^ That was my thought exactly.
