    Default Septic and Well Inspectors

Does anyone have a recommendation for a septic and well inspector? Property will be in Elbert county (Elizabeth).

    Thanks,

We used Septic Masters last year, when we were going through the fight with the homeowners here. Debi was very good to work with and seems very honest.

I meant to add... if you're getting the water tested for potability the regular inspector should be able to do that. If you want someone to take a close look at the well, these guys have been great and probably drilled it in the first place - http://www.hierdrillingco.com/

For septic, it's the current owners responsibility to get it inspected, brought up to code and get you the use permit. We had concerns about the sizing of our system which is why we hired our own inspector. It gave us more flexibility about who was doing the inspection and it came back to us and not to the sellers.

For details on the well start here - http://www.water.state.co.us/pubs/aquamap.asp You'll want to use something other than IE or Firefox. When you open aquamap turn on the background and under data display click on 'water well applications". Then select the 'quick zoom' box and 'zoom to address'. After that you can find the permit info by hovering the mouse over the dot on the property, when you click it you will get more info.

To get a good view of the well use this page - http://www.dwr.state.co.us/wellpermitsearch/ and input the well permit number from the previous page. Here you will get all the info on the well... depth, aquifer, drilling company, pump rate, etc.

There are three other drillers besides what was mentioned that are out that way that could have drilled the well but it would be best for you to call the company that did the drilling and pump install in the first place. The others are:

    Hamacher Well Works Inc
    (719) 541-2460

    Can-America Drilling Inc
    (719) 541-2967

    Kunau Drilling LLC
    (719) 683-3720

I've used Hamacher in the past. Nice folks. All are family businesses.
