AR painting

I bought a blemished lower and the color is a bit off. I would like to paint or cerekote the lower to get it to match the upper receiver and the barrel.

What product should I use to get it close to looking factory?

As suggested-Danger Lee Ent. if you want it Cerakoted. Or have it re anodized with all your aluminum parts in the same batch.

Duracoat or Krylon, I guess then if ease of application and least amount of money invested is what you're after. You could, technically, apply Cerakote yourself if you have the required equipment. They sell a do-it-yourself kit for around $175 last I checked. But, at that price, I'd give it to Tim at Danger Lee and know it'll be done right.

I've used krylon to paint some rifles in the past. You need to wipe the part down so there's no dirt or oil on it. Then just paint like you do anything and get a flat clear to finish it up. All sorts of ways to make camo patterns too, if you want to go all out.

I've used the DIY duracoat, works well. Like stated, it's all in the cleaning and prep though. Many light coats > few heavy coats.

Duracoat is stupid simple and supremely durable. Just let it dry according to the directions. It needs all the time on the bottle.

Dura coat works pretty good. Like stated before, cleaning and prep are key and give it all the time necessary to cure. The only problem spot I've had is on the shell deflector but I wasn't surprised by that.
