Everyone wants to hunt here and that's why they have the point system. if you truly want to get a better understanding of the points system feel free to pm me your contact info, and I would be more than happy to help you learn and understand the whole preference point system. But in a nut shell in a given unit the tags are given to the person or persons with the most points. Every year that you are unsuccessful you are awarded another point and in turn moving you closer to the top of the list. The system is a little different for sheep, moose, and goat. Anyone here put in for the whitetail only deer tags? First time I did this year, used all my pref points last year, figured it was a good way to get a tag.

The hard part will be finding whitetails. I bought a leftover whitetail doe tag for GMU 104 last year, then found out there's NO public land in 104, and there's damn few whitetails in this state. If CPW had their way, there wouldn't be ANY. I was told they want to keep it mulies only here.

Yeah, I figure at least it lets me hunt. Mule deer are the bigger draw for out of staters.

I'll be grabbing an OTC cow elk tag. Not interested in mounting a rack, just looking for freezer filling. First time in 3 years for me for any big game hunting.
