I've visited there more in the last few months, since I moved, than I did in several years before. The "Hometown" forum is the only place I go. There's really nothing I need on that site.

I have memberships on several sites, but really only go here and on Sigforum on a regular basis.
I spend far more time there browsing around for both technical knowledge and entertainment. It is what you make of it if you disregard the idiots. (And everyone has their own distinct version of constitutes an idiot). Just filter out the chaff and stick the forums that appeal to you and it is a great resource. (With the membership base that they have over there how can you not find things of value to you wether you have an active membership or not)
Molon and his ammunition testing is a perfect example of what is useful over there.
Some forums just want to walk their own narrow path such as the High Power shooting forum here....http://www.usrifleteams.com/forums/ (they have a defined focus on High power competition) and it works for them to stay in that lane. (I have read more there that other places recently as I am really trying to improve my High Power competitive performance.
I like it here and have no complaints worthy of note but have at times felt that the moderation has been heavy handed (too strong a statement as it implies I find fault with it; I don't as it is what it is). (I tried to come up with a descriptive way of saying at times there is excessive moderator intervention but that takes the statement too far as perhaps "unnecessary moderator intervention" would be a better way of describing my impression at times. All of that fundamentally falls into the "Their house their rules" category however.
And that is relative to things like combining like threads even though there is a differing conversation in each. I would rather sift through separate threads even on the same subject than have to make a combined thread read like a coherent thought process) (If you must just lock one or the other offending duplicates with a link directing them to the post you want to keep intact). It is minor things like that that are in truth of little consequence. I never find fault with those that ask a question where the answer can be found 3 pages back or for that matter 3 post down as some new and very welcome individuals might be chased away via first impressions)
AR15.com is my "entertainment" (See their General Discussion forum)
AR15.com is my "knowledge resource" (See their Technical forums)
Hell half of the national breaking news stories end up in their general discussion forum before those stories actually hit the national or local radio and television.
This forum is a local resource and to expand beyond that would be unnecessary.
I might be less disgruntled if I could bet back my High power shooter user title. Even is it said High power shooter but poor shot.

There's the COHTF which is IMO a mini version of GD since few if any members or potential CO residents know how to do anything past page 1. I "think" the most activity in COHTF is when this forum goes down. OR another person ask IF they can buy magazine parts / rebuils kits from an out of state forum member.

And for reaching a much, much wider potential buying & selling base

Beside myself, at least Circuits is honest about his membership. Who BTW, provides clarity about some ATF reg, NFA law or just bs in the tech threads with some of us. Giving his view why the problem exist, or how to improve ones gun operation.
IMO trying to expand a locally based firearm forum like we have here isn't feasible or practical. Reloading, Long distance, basic prepping & politics are covered. ALL Local. Trying to expand the forum to meet EVERYONE'S needs or specific topics are not necessary.
You didn't ask but im a gonna say it anyway..
The IP section..
I'l leave it at that.
[MOD: I won't go to the site to check out those links. You'll need to explain them to me]

I have an account there but don't post much. As others have already said there is a ton of great info there.
Perhaps valid. However on arfcom. Technical forums, which i linked to.
If it's not specific to an OP's question, or gets a "Hey you dumb %$#*# ass" reply. The mods delete said words, inserting a THIS IS NOT GD, DON'T ACT THAT WAY. in it's place.
Or do they allow any mention of .
If you're looking for something like that part, I have a few laying around. Even a i have one sitting here not being used. Gets it not only deleted, BUT a not so suttle PM from the mod informing you next time it's done there's a 1 week temp ban.
Compared to the arfcom mods. This forums mods are very lenient![]()

I have a membership but I don't think I've ever posted other than buying stuff. The equipment exchange is excellent, IMO.
