So, the other night my wife says a female coworker of hers wants to go shooting during lunch time today and she asks me for help I getting her gear ready. Ok, fine. No problem. I gather things up, clean and safety check her pistol etc. it's been quite a while since she went to the range, so I decided to give her a refresher on gun safety and handling along with a once over with her pistol.
I explained to her in a calm tone of voice that I'll be explaining things that she's already heard, but for safety reasons, I'll go over it again. I get a look that says "I don't need you to tell me anything. I know what I'm doing". Ok deep breaths....Finger off the trigger until your ready to fire and muzzle down range at all times, no exceptions. I immediately get swept with the muzzle as she's practicing racking the slide. I calmly correct her, but with a firm time of voice. Oh no. Apparently I made a mistake pointing that out. In her mind I'm being a big meanie trying to stroke an ego I guess. I mentally said "fuck it" and told her to deal with the RO if you've got questions or he can either correct you or throw your ass out for being unsafe. I walked back downstairs and hugged my Dillon for comfort....
