    Default wanted - type tray/shadowbox

Anybody know where I can find a selection of these things? Old printer's type trays, or new reproductions of them. I want to find some locally, so I can look them over to find a nice one. I don't want to order one sight unseen off eBay, God knows what you'd get.

Antique shops, thrift shops, flea market vendors, or private sellers. Maybe someone here has one to sell?

I want to use it to display my cartridge collection. Thanks!

I'm not sure if you need bigger bins but this is what I have for my ammo display. I'm just displaying single cartridges.

I used 1 inch thick rigid foam insulation sheet to make the slots. I cut the slots using a router with a ball end cutter. I used three different widths. I bought the frame / shadow box at hobby shop.

If you haven't already checked them office desk drawer organizers may work if you need bigger compartments.

    Good luck on your search.

Nice! But I have an assload more than that, and I plan to get more. I'm thinking one of those big type trays might be just right. For starters.

I might have a few of those drawers around here somewhere. Been a while since I've seen them though. If I happen to stumble across them in the rafters in the garage or whatever, I'll let you know.

    Yes, please do! Definitely interested.

Years ago I had several of these things, got tired of dragging them around and gave 'em away. Now I have a use for one. Figures.

If you have to go looking for those boxes, they're called a "California Job Case". I remember setting type using those in 7th or 8th grade shop class.

I think he'd have better luck searching for "printer's drawer".
