Default Need A Place In Glenwood Springs

    Figured I'd start here.

I have a friend that is looking to rent an apartment/house in Glenwood Springs. This is a responsible adult who is moving because of their job. They are looking for a one year commitment. Buying may be an option after that.

Kinda short notice as they will need something by the end of May.

    Ideas?

    TIA

My sister in law is a realtor and property manager in the area. Unfortunately she doesn't have any rentals in Glenwood right now. She has some kind of close and can help with purchase if needed.

Glenwood is expensive! It is cheaper toward New Castle, Silt, and especially Rifle. Carbondale was once affordable, but the Aspen commuters took over that place. My brother is a realtor over there as well but doesn't deal with rentals. Personally, I would look at Rifle, which is only like 20-30 minutes away.

I was sent to glenwood years ago for work.. couldn't find a place up there.. the VERY few places that were available were so absurdly priced.. My personal favorite was a 900sf townhome... with wood stove for heat.. for $300k..

Rifle and New Castle weren't much better for price/sf.. but there was more available. A lot of the places were trashed and I mean TRASHED.. This was when the whole oil/gas/shale thing was taking off though.. it was not a good time to be up there.

When the housing market crashed, a lot of that changed. Glenwood is still outrageous as always, and New Castle is a little better. There are some deals in Rifle right now. My brother is buying fix and flips and the prices are no where close to what they were during the gas boom. I helped him with a 1,600 square foot year 2000ish house that he sold for about $230,000ish...I can't remember the exact price. It was nice when it was done though. However, under $300,000 houses don't come available as often.
