I just bought another one of these http://www.amazon.com/Black-Box-G1W-...blackbox+g1w-c for my truck that I will put it in the next day or so. The other one got fried (my fault). Prior to that, it worked great and pretty user friendly. Lots of youtube videos on operation.

I have a G1W-H . . . has worked really well. Have it connected to the fusebox so it turns on and off with the ignition. Was pretty easy to work with. I'll probably put one in our other vehicles.

Not going to work for my needs.

A simple unit that records forward motion only works.

You can turn the g-sensor off (I do) and just have it in loop mode 24/7.

The g sensor locks the recording so it can't be recorded over. It's always recording.

Another vote for the G1W. Can't beat the price. No GPS, no Speedometer, g-sensor. Sub $70. I got the capacitor model, because I figured it couldn't hurt with the heat, but in wishing I would have stuck with the battery model.

Tempting. Never needed one, but there's been times I wished I'd had one to record something. Like the 20ft stepladder that fell off a pickup right in front of me on E470 one night. That was exciting.....

I haven't purchased one yet (but need to get off my butt and do it) but found this site which seems to be a review of many and explains much of this stuff.
    Hope it helps

I have been considering a dash cam for a while now. My concern is if I get one with GPS that shows my speed it could come back to bite me. I tend to push at or above the speed limit when I drive. I would hate to bring camera footage into court and have clear evidence that they pulled in front of me and have it dismissed because I was going 5mph over the limit and it's my fault. In my case I don't believe there is any upside to paying more for the GPS models. I suppose a situation could arise that I'm going at or below the limit and the footage looks as though I'm going faster than the limit. I don't really know how well the sensation of speed shows up on a dash cam? Just thinking out loud!

I'm following this thread closely to see what everybody's insight is on these things. I think that since I drive an average of 200 miles a day around town, a dash cam could be advantageous.
