Default Moved out of state. Now what??

I have moved to TN. I have a CO CCW. I have just applied for my TN, HCP (thats what they call it here). I now have to wait 90 days for my new HCP to arrive. My question is.....has anyone ever moved out of state (CO) and gone through this before? I have called Jefferson Co where I use to live but I get no info on what I am to do. I feel like I need to notify them of an address change within 30 days or something. But what happens when the new address is out of state. I see on there site they have a "change of address form" that one needs to fill out and have it notarized and returned. Wouldn't I just need to tell them I am no longer in the state? I didn't move down the street or a county over.

Any info or guidance would be helpfull. Thanks!

    1. Tennessee now recognizes a facially valid handgun permit, firearms permit, weapons permit, or a license issued by another state according to its terms, and will, therefore, authorize the holder of such out-of-state permit or license to carry a handgun only in the state of Tennessee.
    2. The person must be in possession of the permit or license at all times such person carries a handgun in Tennessee.
    3. Tennessee will enter into written reciprocity agreements with other states that require the execution of such agreements.
    4. If a person with a handgun permit from another state decides to become a resident of Tennessee, such person must obtain a Tennessee handgun permit within six (6) months of establishing residency in Tennessee. Such person will be processed as a renewal applicant if the eligibility requirements of the other state are substantially similar to the eligibility requirements of Tennessee. View application requirements by state for persons holding a Handgun Carry Permit from another state and applying for a Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit.
    5. A person who is employed in this state for at least thirty (30) hours a week for six (6) consecutive months is required to obtain a Tennessee handgun carry permit within six (6) months from the last day of the sixth month of regular employment in Tennessee. A Tennessee handgun carry permit will be issued in this situation only if the other state has eligibility requirements that are substantially similar to the eligibility requirements of Tennessee. If the eligibility requirements from the other state are substantially similar to the eligibility requirements of Tennessee, Tennessee may issue a Tennessee permit to the person employed in this state under the renewal provisions of Tennessee law.
    6. The above number 5 will not apply if the state of residence of the person employed in Tennessee has entered into a reciprocity agreement with Tennessee.
    emphasis added

as far as changing address: I have a Texas CCL with my Colorado Address on the license. Shouldn't be a problem.

( I also have a CO CCL but that is irrelevant)

....seems like you are good to carry concealed for six months. do your own due diligence etc...

I have found this info useful but somewhat not what I'm looking for. TN takes like most states 90 days to process (in my case a "renewal") HCP. I did get a return call from JeffCo shortly after posting this morning. They informed me the CCW card itself it property of the Sheriffs office and since I am no longer a resident of CO and have switched over to TN I am obligated to send them there property back asap. And my CO CCW is not valid due to me not being a resident of CO no matter what TN's regs are. I am as of now not allowed to carry concealed because this worker/deputy there in JeffCo put a note in on my license info on there computer.

The confusing part is TN tells me that until my TN HCP gets approved that my CO CCW license is my proof of being legal to carry. Here in TN you go to the DMV license division to apply. From there you go to a finger printing station. This can be a gun shop or somewhere else. Then they simple mail you your license when everything comes back OK.

These two states aren't on the same page. Its been said somewhere buried on this site about the time the nationwide reciprocity bill got shut down , that the FED shouldn't force the states to a set standard. This is one case that IMO proves that a nationwide standard or license would be better than the 40 something states all having there own standards. I am now going without the right to protect myself with my firearm that I choose to keep concealed, because of two states worth of red tape! That's crap!

Well this is news, disturbing news, to me. I assumed my Colorado license was similar to my Texas license in that you take it wherever you go. I am going to talk to my El Paso County Sheriff's Office about this.

Lesson: don't talk to your local Sheriff's office until after you have your new state license approved.

The power of the 'state' has in my experience rarely if ever been my friend. Liberty over license, Freedom over permission. I feel for ya...

...sorry I couldn't be more help.

How exactly does one state have control over what is allowed in another state?

I don't even know why anyone should have to ask for permission to protect oneself anyways with whatever means necessary and also negating the choice as to how to carry that weapon of self defence.

And on what your saying Stu......Sounds like the states are now taking the Feds example of quashing the tenth with each other. No other way to say it but F* the gov on almost all levels. TOO MUCH RED TAPE! To many people controlling our everyday actions.

And yes the lesson that I hope anyone gets out of this is don't play by the rules with the gov. Because the rules are written by them for them and can be changed at anytime to benefit them and never you. I guess I should have just held my cards till the bitter end instead of showing them.

Now back to waiting for my new CCW/HCP like I and many of us did when we first applied.
