I don't remember mine being all that bad. Maybe it was a different guy.

What CRC really needs is an infusion of youth on the board of directors. Seems the guys in charge are a bit behind the times when it comes to just about anything firearm related.

If Steve Kingcade is running the orientation a lot of the needless crap will be gone over quickly if not cut out entirely..

I've heard some are better, but mine was awful. The orientation guy belabored points for far too long, taking over 4 hours.

"You can camp at designated spots. During some of the big matches, tons of people camp. Some in campers, others in tents. Big campers, toy haulers, RVs, pop-ups, truck bed campers, fifth wheels. Some sleep in their cars, while others sleep on the ground. Under a tarp, or with sleeping bags, or just blankets. Some bring food to cook, while others go into town. The ones that cook sometimes have stoves in the campers, others bring a propane grill. Some just bring sandwiches and other cold foods." For like 5 minutes straight.
My orientation was exactly this. Way too many people crammed into the 'club house' listening for 4 hours about nothing. This is the exact reason I send my renewal fee in immediately because I never want my membership to expire and have to sit through that again. I remember coming home to my wife and telling her "that was pure torture."

    Welcome.

I think mine was 20 minutes, but that was 5 years ago.

I have found that there are a few on the BOD that are ignorant of action shooting, ballistics and other issues, but they are not stubborn or hard headed about it. A careful and factual explanation can usually be made and common sense solutions can be found. Just takes some effort to go to a BOD meeting and explain the perspectives.

So was this yesterday? How was it? Did you stop by and watch any of the competitions going on?

It was this morning, I think I saw them back on the 1000 Yard line when we were moving from 300 to 600 for the match today

absolutely. It did take three hours but I rather that then them just turning people loose immediately. The nature of that club attracts a more responsible shooter I would hope. That place is awesome. Guys who did the orientation were very cool. it did go a bit long but they did a very good job.

Bottom line I hunted around for a long time trying to find a place where I shoot 1000y. The 500m metallic range is awesome too except the gong at 50 which some idiot decided to light up with green tip now has a nice hole in the center. That place is pretty freakin awesome and I feel pretty lucky. Met a lot of cool people.
