They have an awesome facility if you don't mind the long drive.

    Just remember during orientation...

Its for a good cause, its for a good cause....

I've heard some are better, but mine was awful. The orientation guy belabored points for far too long, taking over 4 hours.

"You can camp at designated spots. During some of the big matches, tons of people camp. Some in campers, others in tents. Big campers, toy haulers, RVs, pop-ups, truck bed campers, fifth wheels. Some sleep in their cars, while others sleep on the ground. Under a tarp, or with sleeping bags, or just blankets. Some bring food to cook, while others go into town. The ones that cook sometimes have stoves in the campers, others bring a propane grill. Some just bring sandwiches and other cold foods." For like 5 minutes straight.

agreed. the entire "orientation" is absurd.

I get the point. But over 4 hours, was a bit rough.

Go over safety items, then go over range etiquette and equipment, then be done.

My guy didn't even know what 357sig was. He said "if your cartridge necks down at all, you cannot have it on the pistol range". Understandably for things like the TC 308/243/etc. I asked about 357sig, and he had no clue what it was.

We finally came back with 460S&W was OK, but 357sig was not because the case is larger than the projectile.

Another example... when he said eye and ear protection required at all times, I asked about a scenario where its just me or me and a friend and I/we are shooting only suppressed. He went on for 5 minutes about way out there scenarios where someone might sneak up on us and shoot without a suppressor without us knowing, or this, or that, or the other. My internal reaction was "Just say: No, range rules specify you must always use ear protection regardless of suppressors" would have been more than ample. I'm not looking to break rules, I'm not even looking to argue about rules I don't agree with, just want to clarify at times to make sure I don't end up on the bad side of a dispute. Stop belaboring every point beyond death.

I don't recall how many hours my orientation took but that was a long time ago and I managed to get through that apparently-traumatic event - we're lucky that CRC exists. There are very likely far more worthy causes to whine about.

From what I've heard, some are pretty good. But some are not so great. Either way, I agree... #FirstWorldProblems.
