I'm not a huge fan of hippies. I sure enjoy the Earth though.

I work for JBS, one of the largest meat producers in the world, and this was in our daily news email.

    3 – Eat less meat
Domestic meat is hard on the environment, creating huge amounts of methane and gobbling up resources. Just watering livestock required more than 2 million gallons per DAY in the United States. Cutting back a little on meat consumption is a small step, and who couldn’t use a few more veggies?

Big time carnivore? Consider hunting wild game, which is natural, does not deplete natural resources, and, we’ll attest, is most delicious.

And I'm thankful for it! A visit to Big Choice and a couple of IPAs from Lagunitas when I got home. Earth Day!

It is perfectly fine to shit all over the over-reactionists in our society that are missing the 'big picture' when it comes to the resilience of our planet and our impact on it.

But 'Earth Day' itself isn't the conservative-minded person's devil.

Having an 'Earth Day' is fine. Appreciate this blue and green globe that we all share and enjoy. If you appreciate it every day, great. But if it takes an announced day to do it and it resonates for people of all types; it can't be a bad thing.

And while I am thankful for the earth today, I am also thankful when grown men use someone else's pictures and words to portray 'their' thoughts. It reminds me that competition within our society isn't nearly as difficult as I sometimes believe that it is.

We had an announcement and posters for people to turn off their computers when they go home to save the planet by not consuming electricity. Nobody talked to us in IT first. We patch and maintain those systems while the users aren't there using them.

I know what you speak of, and then the users complain about IT because their 'puter is getting patched during normal business hours.
