    Default tree removal-rant alert

I had a two story tall silver pine severely damaged in our storm 2 weekends ago along some with some siding facia that was pulled away from the eave. One of my best friends recommended a tree guy. Talked to him yesterday, said he'd come by this morning and take a look. Sounded like he knew his stuff, we had a great chat, came to an agreement on a fair price to remove the tree. I took off for work, left him to do the job.

Came home a short time ago and the tree was gone, stump at ground level as we agreed upon. All good, uh oh-what's that laying on my grass? Why it's the piece of facia that I was going to tack back in place after the tree was gone!!!!!! What else is laying around? Why some kind of plastic twine I assumed was used to tie the cut pieces together as well as a fair number of tree "bits".

I never said anything to him about the facia, my fault? Or is it ok for him to assume, without calling and asking, to rip it off and leave it laying on the ground?

I'm shopping for a new roof too after finding out yesterday I need a new one due to wind/hail damage. I know one of the roofers I'm considering-lives in my neighborhood and has done stellar jobs on some neighbors' homes-also handles siding and if I go with him he could have handled putting the loose piece back properly as well.

I already paid the tree guy, too bad so sad lesson learned but I thought I could trust him after our chat this morning. I left him a message, he works for himself so I know he's the only one that answers the cell, explaining I liked how he handled the tree but not the siding trim piece.

Sometimes I hate relying on others for things I can't do. Rant off.

If a piece of fascia on the ground is your biggest worry right now, I'd say you're doing pretty well. Take a deep breath and count to 10.

Haha, you're right and I know it. I wish there was a "like" button here as your post definitely deserves one. It was just frustrating to come home to that. And trust me, it's not my biggest worry-that'll develop tomorrow after I go to the doctor. It did take my mind off the impending dr. visit so perhaps it was a good thing. LOL. I may be taking a hiatus from the webs, more likely I'll just be lurking for a while.

I guess I just expect too much of people sometimes.

Would you like me to tac the facia back up in place tomorrow? I'm not a contractor, but I have a ladder and a hammer. It wouldn't be a perfect install, but it should look better than laying in the front yard.

Perhaps it was more than pulled away and a little more wind took it off?

That's what I was thinking - it's been pretty damned windy lately.
