Not really. I'm not aware of a single jurisdiction where the polygraph results are admissable in a criminal case. The box is a tool, and like any tool is only as good as the examiner using the tool. I don't personally put much stock in them, but I know some examiners who use the box very effectively to obtain information from people who take them.

The judicial system is not a bias free system of science. Investigation is about uncovering useable evidence for prosecution. Prosecution is all about convincing 12 or more people who couldn't talk their way out of jury duty that the accused is quilty beyond a reasonable doubt. If you buy everything everyone is selling, I have some beach front ocean view property in New Mexico I'd like to sell you.

That said, I've found that often the simplest answer is usually the correct answer. While not always true, it is truer more times than not.
