Default Body Armor Legal in CO?

I've done some google searches and tried here too, but is Body armor legal in Colorado? Was thinking of looking for a jacket to complement my CCW for colder weather. And if it were legal, to look at ones with integral armor. I just thought it would be a simple search, but nothing so far???

Just an idea, maybe not a good one.

I am pretty sure it is legal...not positive. I have seen several people buy it and I have seen it for sale at the guns shows before.

If memory serves, the only time it is illegal, is if you wear it during the commission of a crime. Or possibly, if you are a felon. Not positive.

It's legal. Much like using a gun during the commission of a crime, wearing body armor during the commission of a crime ups the charges and adds time to your sentence, but it's legal to buy, sell, own, etc.

Check out www.bulletproofme.com. Those guys have unused to lightly used LEO surplus or are willing to produce custom body armor.

A level III vest with level IV trauma plates is the only way to go. Albeit heavy.

Those are on my shortlist for sure.

    BINGO!

If you are considering buying something used, ensure it's in really good condition and check the manufacture date for items like Second Chance Vests - they do degrade through time, simple wear, and body oils/etc.

New stuff is expensive, but if you're buying it for your safety the question to ask yourself is "How much is my life worth". I have my old Second Chance vest from when I played cop, but I never wear it. If I was concerned enough to wear armour again I'd rather my obituary/tombstone read "Priceless" versus "$50 on eBay".
