Any advice on how to avoid them?
I was was given a list a mile long of foods to avoid, and then told that even if I follow the list to a tee I could get them because the biggest factor are your genes.
My grandpa gets them like crazy, and my dad used to.
Drinking lots of water, and water with lemon or lemonade made with real lemon juice is the best. The citrate in lemon will actually help breakdown stones you have. I've also read studies of crystal light lemonade being good for them.
My dr also said its not how much you drink, but how much you pee. He said you should pee between 2.5-3.5 liters per day, no matter what.
My stones are made of calcium and oxilate, oxilate is found in all dark sodas which I used to drink a ton of, then when I had this surgery 4 years ago I quit and was fine, but I started drinking it again a year ago, now the stones popped back up.
I haven't had a single dark soda in 6 weeks, and have been trying to drown myself with water.

Thanks for the advice, I do not drink soda at all. I also try to drink 100 to 150 oz of water per day and I add fresh lemon to my water.
FWIW, the stone that is stuck (still) is 1 cm. No idea how it's gonna come out. For right now, I am managing with near zero pain but that is living on Percocet, and that can't last forever. I, like RCCrawler, am drowning myself in water, and just biding my time until I can go see the dick doc.
Add bourbon to the percocet and you'll be fine. Helps with the time biding. Hell, I'll even bring some good stuff by.
