    Default RIP Pat Rogers

Pat Rogers (Of EAG Tactical) passed away last night.

Pat was a legend in the NYPD and in the Marine Corps. He was an instructor at Gunsite under Col. Cooper, a national level competitive shooter, product developer and an occasional writer for some of the gun rags. To say nothing of his impact as a civilian trainer.

Pat's carbine class was the first civilian class I ever attended. I walked in with a bit of a swelled head because I was a high-speed "contractor" and had a couple of trips overseas as an infantry NCO with the Marine Corps.

His class crushed my nuts. It demonstrated that I wasn't nearly as good as I thought I was. In true Pat form, I was ribbed a little, mentored a little and told to "Unfuck yourself". The experience I had at that class helped push me to continue to seek outside training. There is truly no way to measure the impact that Pat has had on my professional development over the last decade plus.

The shooting, training, and tactical communities are truly diminished by his passing.

    Rest in peace Pat.

Couldn't of happened to a more deserving guy.
What is my joy if all hands, even the unclean, can reach into it? What is my wisdom, if even the fools can dictate to me? What is my freedom, if all creatures, even the botched and impotent, are my masters? What is my life, if I am but to bow, to agree and to obey?

Getting called a homo and brutally teased by Pat was a true honor. I have a group of guys I am privileged to call friends because of Pat's training and influence. I proudly carry my moose cock award that I am certain I earned several times over. However, I have never repeated the mistakes that got me that award. I do periodically hear his voice yelling "I must be a bad instructor..." and not just on the range. We are unlikely to see his type again.

Mick, you are right. It was in poor taste and I apologize for that. My issues with Pat are my own, and now that he will be no longer "teaching" I can, should, and will let it go.

I am sure he probably helped many people.
