    Default BGC after moving.

We somewhat recently moved and went through the online process of updating our address with the DMV but they just tell you to write your new address on the back of your license.

What else do I need to bring with me to complete the BGC? It's actually my wife and she's not on the mortgage or titles to the vehicles so those are out.

    Thanks in advance.

This varies depending on the FFL you're using. Many will accept a label or written-in corrected address, as it is the approved method according to the Colorado DMV. Keep in mind you do have to actually change/register your correct address with the state, regardless. Just writing it on the back without changing it doesn't count, and may flag your BGC if the address the state has is different than the address you say you live at because you never updated it online. Other FFLs, though, may want more proof, like the items mentioned above. If you haven't verified with your FFL in advance, I'd bring one of those items above just in case.

I was slacking on updating my address with the DMV. I just carried a copy of my car registration with me and that worked for all BGC's.

Just lie and fill out the 4473 with whatever address it shows on your current drivers license.

    +1 easiest...

Gov issued doc with your current. I learned after driving to rifle to pick up my barrett about them not taking the label... since then when I move I get a new license.

That happened to me a while back. A lower was ready for me just days after I moved into my house.

The fastest solution for me was driving to the dmv and getting my car registration updated then going back to finish the transfer.

Don't want to get into an FFL dual or anything (haha) but I just called CBI after reading your note, as I accept written in driver's license addresses and wanted to be sure I was ok. They told me that there are no rules with ATF or CBI that prevent you from using a driver's license with a written in corrected address. You should of course feel confident that it has actually been corrected with the state as I mentioned. I'd be glad to pass on the contact info for the person who provided that info, but didn't want to post their name in an open forum.

She also mentioned that of course they'd be glad to verify any info on the DL if you want to call it in and have them check to ensure it's been updated in the system as well. Bottom line, a written-in correction is good to go as far as CBI/ATF is concerned (in Colorado). But she reminded me that every FFL can and should set their own rules as needed.

Hope this doesn't set off your bub-rub alarm and you put me on your asshole list. I'd hate to end up with a big picture of a horse's ass as my avatar picture all summer! LOL.

Only had an issue at one shop last time I moved. They looked at my ccw card and they were happy. With that said my current address was written on the back of the drivers license.
