Default Question on Non-functioning, old, shotgun disposal?

How does one legally get rid of one of these? Old rusty double barrel...wouldn't shoot it with YOUR shoulder. Thought about throwing it a dumpster somewhere, but want to do the RIGHT thing.

I would love to give it away. Does that constitute a transfer that requires paperwork? Can I "throw it in the trash"?
