It is a 4" character brand. Its pretty much the standard size for calves. It looks just the right size on cows, but HUGE on the calves. Unfortunately (because of theives), they need to be identifiable right away, so they get branded when they are small. And now its impossible to register a 1 character brand, almost impossible to register a 2 character brand. Almost all new brands are 3 character.

You can open you wallet and buy old 1 and 2 character brand, but they are expensive. I like the look of this brand though.

That sure looks easier and faster than flanking.
Requires a lot less personnel as well.
And yes, that's a sharp brand.

If I didn't have to be back in Denver by 2, I would have surprised you and showed up.

That's a great looking brand. We don't run any cows anymore but I still pay the assessment for our brand. It was registered with the state in 1904 and is a 2 character brand. After grandad passed away I had a lot of people offering me a lot of money to buy it.

Used to do Cowboy day to help a friend every year and then do up the fresh calf fries.

Did my fair share of hay work too back in the day.

    Good times.
