Are Dall Sheep tasty? I was thinking of this when I drove past a herd on HWY 6 up by Black Hawk the other day - not sure if it's the same species exactly as the one your dad got. I don't think I've ever had that.

    Great looking animal. Nice one!

Dal sheep is excellent eating. Some of the most tender and lean meat you will ever eat. The Dall sheep is related to but still different than the Rocky Mountain Bighorn sheep that we have here in Colorado. Dad was one of the lucky 11 to draw a tag in Colorado last year for Desert bighorn, and they eat amazing as well.

Spotted a herd of 30 to 40. Hiked up 2500 ft and watched their pattern for a couple hours. Planned next morning to get on them before they headed for water. Daughter and buddy hiked up to trees while I signaled when save to cross fields with no cover. Plan came together perfectly until a last minute "sniff" and missed rush shot at about 50 yds. Got on them again, within 100yds on the other side, but got busted again before a clear shot. Might have been a blessing seeing they were at 12500 and we were 6 miles in.

Ours was three miles in from 10,200 ft. Blessing indeed.

I don't believe this cow had ties to the Clintons; however she was grazing right at me so I had to do what needed to be done to stop the threat.

Oh yeah, be careful out there, we had an incident where one of us took a sharp stick to the throat that caused immediate trickling of blood that was initially alarming. Fortunately it was a small puncture and wasn't as much of an issue as we first thought.

Also, this is what happens when you drop your rifle on some rocks. This is a brand new front sight because the last one kept getting beat up as well.

Good luck Ron, looks like you're leaving in a day or two.

Thanks! Yeah, sunrise Sat morning there will be a new, Ron-shaped lump on the hill overlooking the creek bottom I've got scouted out. Just sittin' and waitin'.....
