    Default Shotgun buttstocks?

So, needing to get a shorter stock for a Remington 870. Can't decide on which route to go.

The Magpul SGA is ugly as sin but the first time I handled a shotgun that had one it felt awesome. Although, at $90 it's a tad pricey.

The Hogue overmold stock is priced better and has a more traditional look to it but I've never been a fan of things with rubber coatings on them and would prefer plain old plastic construction.

I'm not sure about some of the pistol grip style stocks. Seems most of them are kind of hokey and the ones with the AR buffer tubes and stocks look to have poor angles and ergonomics. Of all of them, the Mesa Tactical Urbino looks the most useable but, like the Magpul, is pretty spendy.

    Thoughts? Opinions? Amusing antidotes?

Numrich has a variety in one place to scan through. Maybe you'll find something modify or look at elsewhere.

They have an Express Youth listed but I don't know if they are shorter.

I use the Mesa Tactical LEO adapter, and have recently went to a magpul sl-k stock on it. Gives me just under 12" length of pull. My t-Rex arms like it. Cheek weld on a bead sight is no problem.

The shotgun I'm wanting to put a shorter stock on has ghost rings. I'm not 100% sure what a setup like the one above would do for my check weld.

So I just replied to one of your other threads and I think I can help here too.

Like you, I'm recoil sensitive. I hated shooting shotguns if it was more than just a few rounds. My shoulder becomes tender and I begin to flinch. So mush so that I've switched to shooting lefty to finish a sporting clays course. I then purchased a Remington 870 with Knox recoil pistol grip and overfold stock. I read many reviews knocking the Knox recoil pistol grip. Not sure why. I think it's great. I can shoot it one handed unsupported. Even with the steel folding stock it's easy to shoulder and shoot.

Another +1 for the Knoxx! Have one and it's been solid, the daughter loves it!

I run one of these. But it's on a SBS unit.

I had a Knox for about one day, the blood blisters on my cheek made me get rid of it.

There are other recoil reducing options that won't pinch your face meat. Mesa tactical makes a million spec buffer tube that is a recoil reducing part. Check out youtube, lots of videos on there about it.

Not sure how we got on the whole recoil reducing thing but recoil reduction isn't part of my equation. I'm really only looking for a shorter length of pull (around 12" ish) to fit me better for my style.

I can't stand what they look like, but the Mesa Tactical Urbino seems popular with some people that want shorter LOP.
