Plumbing question - using basement floor drains?
I have an unfinished basement, and want to put in a stainless utility sink, for cleanup and homebrew. Meaning I'll be draining out gunk other than plain water - yeasty, stinky stuff on occasion.
There's a floor drain right near my hot water heater, and a sump pump pit in the corner of the basement. Would it be appropriate to drain with something like a garden hose into either of these, or do I actually need to have the output plumbed into the sewer stubouts? Trying to get a sense of how expensive this temporary solution would be, assuming in a year or two it'll be relocated if/when we finish the basement. I'm assuming the sump is a bad idea as that overflow pump turns on fairly often and drains out into the yard, and my neighbors would probably object to homebrew leftovers being dumped in the yard near their kids' play area. The existing stubouts are not really in a location where I want to put the sink...
