As a pathetic Colorado native, I've never seen a big horn sheep or a moose in the wild. Yesterday I got to see 14 sheep at the same time. The herd ram, or whatever they are called, was big and had a great rack. One of the ewes had a collar on and as far as I can tell, her name is C-3.

Aren’t these goats? Never mind. Color is wrong. Where’s the ram?

While we're at it, my dog found this Garter snake the other day (Dec 12th) just hanging out, enjoying the sun. I chose the picture that showed the dog in focus instead of the snake since I know more people on here like dogs better than snakes.

The dog looks like she's hypnotized by the snake. And where did you see the sheep?

Appropriately named Big Horn Sheep Canyon.
Saw them there frequently when I had some land near Vallie Bridge.

Finally got a few decent shots of an eagle. These guys are always nearby when I don't have a camera or can't stop. Wife and I went for a ride today and wound up near the confluence of the Snake and Grande Ronde rivers. Saw this guy (behind trees, of course) about 100 yds away. He was watching me like a hawk (sorry...) but I finally managed to work my way into position for a fairly good picture. He did not like me interrupting his fishing.

Just having some fun playing with the zoom. Thought I saw ears in the grass. Zoomed in and found them watching us from a rock outcropping.

Were you the one that got the new fixed lens Nikon (manual+digital zoom) and posted that incredible moon shot?

I'm so dissatisfied with the poor pics I've gotten the last year with my expensive DSLR gear, I'm ready to just go back to something simpler. I have a D7000 body and two great Nikkor zoom lenses and one 35mm prime, but I suck at getting everything right, even on auto. The pics just seem grainy or slightly out of focus. I dunno, maybe the settings have been twerked and I need to reset things to default...

If so, please post up the model. Thx

I did post a moon shot, I think. I don't have anything fancy. It's a Nikon Coolpix P610. I set it to auto and point and shoot. I like it because it has a 60x optical zoom and I don't have to think too much about what I'm doing with it. It's a pretty slick camera and means I don't have to carry a bunch of lenses around. It's pretty much for someone like me...likes taking pictures but has less than average photography skills.

Canon makes a good one, too. The SX60 HS.
