The ones I caught weighed in the 20-30# range. Yes, 95% mirror carp, a few "common" carp in the mix but mostly mirrors. All on fly.

Time to start chasing fishes. Countdown less than two weeks to first trip.

I started hearing about possible sightings of grizzly bears in the upper Clearwater river area of Idaho, or other evidence they were around, sometime last year. The latest sighting I'd heard about was near the small town of Kooskia.

The ex took a day trip over to Lolo, MT. On the way home she saw this somewhere east of Kooskia along Hwy 12.

Hard to tell from that photo. Looks like a shoulder hump, but also looks like a black bear face. Color doesn't really mean anything.

ETA: If I took that picture, if probably be telling everyone I saw a grizzly.

Cell phone picture, so if you can’t tell what they are, a pair of prong horn.

What made it unusual, this is the south fence of Buckeyes AFB.

Last week I checked the nest box on our Palisade farm house that American Kestrels have been using. Kestrels are the smallest American falcon. They typically eat mice, lizards, grasshoppers and occasionally small birds. I was surprised to find eight eggs in the box. That will be crowded in the box if they all hatch.

Kestrels have nested in this box over many years, and sometimes in a Barn Owl box ~70 yards from the house. This year like last year we have two pair of Kestrels nesting in boxes on the property. Also nesting in small wicker baskets on the house this year are Western Kingbirds and Eurasian Collared Doves.

Hummer, are there possums in Colorado? I didn't think there were, but I listened to a podcast from someone working for the state of Colorado and running hair traps and she was saying there was a lot of possum. She might have just confused what she was saying though.
