Kind of a back story here...
Sandhill cranes are migrating thru OK to TX and further south. A whole herd of 'em happened to stop in a field just outside of my little town. I noticed them while on the way home from town. Ran home and grabbed the camera. Drove back, parked a ways away, and slowly got near enough to take some good shots of the birds in this cotton field. Just trying to frame the shot when "honk, honk". Some local bubba pulls up, honks his horn and yells out, "There's a whole bunch of 'em just up the road." Naturally, they all scattered quite a ways away into the middle of the field where I couldn't get to them. Thanks for the tip, dumbass. What I get for not taking the moron magnets outta my pocket.
This one is at the max zoom on the FZ1000 lens. Don't even have a clue how far. Also cropped/enlarged to about twice the size I guess. I'll keep my eyes out, though, now that I know their stopover spot.
