About 5 years ago I removed several hundred trees to install a new septic tank and leach field. We replanted in low grass and native flowers for hummingbirds. It's gotten better and this year it really was awesome. The hummers are active on the penstemons, agastache and many others. The red flower in the photo of the buck deer is Penstemon barbatus, a perpetual nectar machine. Not a minute goes by without the birds using and fighting over the flowers.
