Default Make sense of this one.

So I'm working out of state, again. I had a little free time this afternoon so I went down to the big sporting goods store to burn some time and maybe a little money. I find I nice Black Rainrifle for o good price (it was their poor man version) and decided to buy it. The guy tells me he can't sell it to me since the rifle comes with a 30rnd mag and I'm from Colorado. I figure that's my luck and this isn't the first time I've heard this happen, another salesman comes over and corrects first salesman and says they can sell me the rifle, however they have to remove the 30rnd mag and replace with a 10rnd P-mag. Sweet no big deal since I have plenty of 30 and could use a few more 10 rounders. At least they swapped it and didn't just take the mag out completely.

Here comes the stupid part. They can't sell the rifle to me with a 30 round mag so they replace with a 10, I then walk over to the wall that is stacked floor to ceiling with 30 round P-mags and I ask the guy if they have a policy against me buying any of those. He says nope just as long as I understand that they are illegal in CO. So for the duration of my stay up here I have 2 30 round mags to test my new rifle with. (I'll give them to a buddy up here before I head home.)

That's clearly their policy, but out of state vendors are not forbidden from selling rifles with >15rd mags to CO residents, any more than they're forbidden to sell you >15rd magazines standalone.

If they think it's a law, they're mistaken.

They might be culpable if you purchased them and had them shipped into CO by them, but that's not the case for an OTC sale and its separate issue of you bringing them back to CO with you (whether it would ever be caught or enforced aside).

I'm so glad to hear that you're manning up to the law and doing the right thing. This is a civilized society we live in, and if we don't follow the rules, we might as well all be neanderthals.
