    without the mag.

I got one big old boar (with a great set of tusks) and a coyote. The wife got a big boar and an enormous sow. outfitter said probably the biggest on the ranch this year. took 4 guys to get it into the truck. easy 300+. Without it's head, it was still bigger than my boar which was a damn fine boar.Click image for larger version.

So are you planning on taking this new rifle on more pig hunts?

yep and who knows what else hunting. Something that might require more than the 6.8 knockdown power..

7.5lbs sounds about perfect. I built my 6.8 spc specifically to get a caliber legal semiauto for hunting that weighed less than 8lbs with optics. Since sold my SR762, may try a dedicated lightweight 308 build in the future.

Now for the important question - how many hogs did you get?
What does your Aero Precision weight? I'm curious if you built it or if it came built. My Aero M5 build comes in at about 7.5 sans optics and 9 lbs with optic and rings. They is with a Magpul MOE rifle stock. If I wanted to lighten it more I could go with the carbine stock but I prefer rifle. My 18inch medium taper Faxon barrel really helps keep it light. Those Aero Precision barrels are some of the heaviest .308 barrels I've seen. You could try changing barrels to lighten it up. I actually think 9 lbs is about right for a .308 and it's about average for a .30 caliber hunting rifle w/optics.
