    Default Nap time!

I just woke up from a nap which commenced about two and one half hours ago. The nap was good, but I woke up to a much darker sky (of course) and was somewhat disoriented. I consider myself a hammock and napping enthusiast and figured we needed a thread to discuss proper napping technique and stories of naps gone by. Who else napped away some of their precious hours of freedom?

Relax on recliner, close eyes. Open when it's time to open them. For me there's no science. When it's time to close my eyes, it's time. be it 1 hour after i woke up or 20 hrd later. Now hot & humid days tend to take the wind out of my sails, earlier than later.

    I'm practically a nap aficionado.

In college, I would go to the quiet study hall and sleep on the couch between classes. Because of this, I didn't know anyone at my schools name until my third year when I started finally having the same people in my classes. Plus I DGAF.
Later, when I started a part time job that would only let me work 5 hour shifts, starting at noon, I'd drop my wife off at work at 8am, then drive straight to work. If they weren't busy, they wouldn't let me start, so I'd go sleep in the car. This was in February of 2011 when there was two weeks of 10 degree weather. I slept in the car without running it for heat. Then I'd go work in a call center for people stranded on the road and listen to them complaining because it was cold outside. I had little sympathy.
Now, I sleep in my car when I have several hours between appointments. Parking garages are best, but under a tree will do as well.

I like naps. My little girl Terrier, Lola, is the perfect nap companion. We both prefer the white noise and breeze of a fan in the background while we cuddle and snooze. Location is important...usually not in bed. We like to find somewhere quiet, dark and private where we're not likely to be disturbed. My wife is like nap kryptonite.

Naps while glorious make it extremely difficult to sleep that night. Which messes up my sleep cycle which I work hard to keep in a somewhat standard rhythm. I am a night owl at heart but when the opportunity for a day shift presents itself you can't really say no. And the rest of the world operates during daylight

Pretty much mirrors my thoughts. I can't remember the last time I took a nap.

I use naps to catch up on sleep when I'm very behind. I also use naps in place of energy drinks.

I don't really sleep. So "naps" make up for the lack of, as sporadic as they are.

It is amazing what just 20 minutes of shut-eye will do for the rest of the afternoon. Usually, if a game of golf is on TV, that's it for me.

That makes sense. I have a hard time falling asleep as it is, so to nap would completely ruin any chance, that and I just don't have time to nap.
