I had this same issue with a 50" projection tv. A NY friend suggest I haul it to wal mart and wait for someone to park a truck. LMAO!

My neighborhood has 2 TV's at one house sitting for 2 weeks now for free. My old CRT has been thru 2 garage sales for free. If you still have a old clunker, it's hard to get rid of.

Put on curb, place "For Sale" sign and it will be gone as soon as it is dark. I do it all the time. I tried to take a baby swing to a consignment shop and they yelled from the counter that it was too old as I was dragging it in the door. Goodwill wouldn't take it either. I put it on the curb, it got picked up, then my wife saw it at a garage sale a week later.

The buyer mentality can be strange. I was doing a construction job at a car repair shop/gas station years ago. The owner put out a set of 4 decent tires with a "free" sign on them. After a few days of no interest at all he put "$25" on the sign. Gone the first day.

Check with your city. They may have recycling program.

Forgot the ad, the only time I see tube tv's, is when some A-hole just pushes them out of the back of a truck next to a field. The city, or someone, usually has them picked up in a day or two.

I listed my old, broken (cracked housing), but still working 25" tube TV on CL for free and it was gone in 30 minutes. List it and put it on the porch.

About 6 months ago I got rid of 5 old TVs on craigslist posting them for free and had enough people respond to get rid of another 6 if I had them.

Before we moved I got rid of our old worn out mattress the same way. Numerous people wanted it.
