    Default Fanny packs, seriously??

So got an email from Cops Plus this morning with the latest and greatest fanny packs for ccw. Whaaat?? I knew a few guys back in the day (I hate that phrase but it works lol) that used to carry their gear in a fanny pack. They weren't "gun guys" and liked how easy it was to take off, stash in a drawer then grab and put on when it was time to leave. I can maybe even see it as a bare minimum "go bag" for someone that only has one pistol and a couple of mags/speedloaders (do these 1 gun creatures really exist or are they only figments of imagination??).

To use as a serious daily ccw method I just have to shake my head as they go against the whole "low profile" thing that most folks adhere to. Ok, that's my vent for the day-back to vacation, you all take it easy, have a safe and Happy 4th!!

I think the movie Central Intelligence is trying to bring the fanny pack/belly bag back in fashion- it's good enough for "The Rock"

I knew a guy that carried in a fanny pack. It was a little embarrassing to be seen with him when he was wearing it. Lol.

Sometimes I choose to carry in a fanny pack. I don't live my life caring about how I look to others.

If they think I'm a fat old tourist because of the fanny pack, good - camouflages me as a potential threat.

I have a Camelbak Goblin that is specifically made for CCW, It has a separate pocket with a holster. I have only used it a few times while hiking and biking.

Nothing wrong with fanny packs. Not to say they don't have some down sides but almost every form of carry does. They're very handy in the summer when you're wearing shorts and a t-shirt. You can keep all sorts of stuff in them in addition to a gun. When properly worn (assuming you get a dedicated gun-type pack) the draw is almost as quick as a hip holster from concealment. I always tried to find a color other than black...blue or tan maybe.

Blackhawk made one that was fantastic several years ago...but it screamed "tactical" and "gun". It was really comfortable and secure, though. I had to ride the light rail in plain clothes with another officer for the first two weeks it was operational from the south-metro end to downtown and that's what I wore. Held gun, mags, badge, cuffs, etc.
