We know them as Sun Spiders from when we lived on western slope. Pain in the but to catch them sometimes. We unintentionally squashed a few when helping minions put together bug collection for school a couple years ago. Those we have found out here on the prairie are slightly smaller than those we used to find in Delta county.

Like he said, these ones stay smaller so not as terrifying. It's kinda I'm scared of them, but respect them at the same time. Too bad I don't have my roach colony anymore for easy food. Need to look into how good of an escape artist or not they are. (Climb glass or not) I've had emperor black scorpion and took care of a few school tarantula's including a huge near bird eater size when I was in high school.

Yup, I don't do roaches, I can deal with the spider in the OP, but roaches, nope!

So, it's technically not an spider. In fact, these guys EAT spiders (and lots of other bugs!) and very rarely attack humans. They can run pretty fast if they are big, but most of them in the US top out at about 1-1.5 inches in length. Non-venomous. Usually they hide when confronted. I've killed hundreds of them in the past 12 months.
