I had a company contact me about shooting a photo for an ad last year and they wanted a campfire scene in the forest. I told them that it was out of the question to shoot that in CO in the Summer as the risk was too high. The company was in VA and they simply did not understand why that was such an issue.
We've had a relatively quiet couple of years in terms of fire but one careless vagabond in the woods can really cause a lot of trouble.
Me? Not usually because I rarely ever camp, but that's a valid point. I got the impression from this thread that the fire ban was put into place after the fire started, so if they were already camping, I wouldn't expect them to know. I only know what had been posted in here though.
