Default Moving to TX! Moving company needed.

So we're heading south at the end of the month. I have been in CO almost 30 years now and will miss a lot of what Colorado offers. Does anyone have experience with a good moving company? I got my first quote Saturday and it was almost 15 grand from Beekins. Have another quote coming of Friday and just got a flyer in the mail from Christan Brothers Moving so I will call them in the morning. Ms. Slapps just had rotator cuff surgery on the 5th so moving ourselves is just out of the question.

I don't have any recommendations other than $15k-ish is probably not too far out of line. We moved ourselves and it was $11k or $12k, not to mention a monumental PITA. Knowing what I know now I would've paid $15k in a heartbeat. Good luck.

Check Out Broadway Express. You pay by the number of feet used in the semi. Load and unload yourself. Because it is basically freight service you run under a different tariff schedule and the cost is far lower than traditional moving companies.

Keeping an eye on this thread. Gives me an idea of the reality for $$ involved to move.

Wait, didn't we just have a thread about moving to TX?

Though really, 15k to move a full house worth of stuff interstate isn't that bad.

If I remember correctly my current company used Christan Brothers when we moved from PA to CO...Family of 4 and 1 car transported was right at 10K, 4 years ago to the date almost. I also used Allied with I moved from TX to PA...I think that was right at 12K, but had 2 cars transported at that time. Both companies were great, no trouble at all. Nothing broken and nothing missing.

Got a bid from Christian brothers and it is under 8k. Looks like they may be the winners.

Trust me. That sounds like a bargain. Hell... 15k sounded like a bargain after what we went thru.

We just moved from Trinidad to Central Illinois last August. Had an estimate from Allied in Pueblo West. For packing, loading, transporting a three bdrm house and three out buildings, they "estimated" around $10,000. Although I just had a cancer operation about two months before the move (kidney, ureter and bladder cuff removed) we bought a brand new 6X12 dual axle Haulmark trailer for $5,000, rented a big box truck from Penske for $1,000 and moved ourselves. Just sold the trailer here locally inIllinois at a $1,000 loss so the move didn't get anywhere the $10,000 mark. However, for that move, I was still not back to "normal" whatever normal is for a 79 year old and knowing what I do now, I'd have paid to just sit back and watch the professionals do the job. We did save money but the move was a bit overwhelming for an older guy so, lesson well learned. Now I had better go give my guns another coat of oil to protect them for having them in the "Rust belt" of Illinois.

Good luck in Texas. Remember you must return 5-10 Denver hipsters back to their natural environment of Austin when you go.
