Default Any suggestions for salida and Buena vista. Possibly grand lake.

Mandated yearly vacation a stay cation. Probably going to grandby as it's where we got married last year then heading down to salida and bv. While i spent lots of time down there as it's where my relatives are, it was mostly as a kid so i actually don't know it that well.

Looking for suggestions on a decent hotel for a night and restraunts in either town. I have the list of hot springs, adventure park, etc. Though if there's anything must see im all ears. No whitewater stuff. Be in mountains thurs and come home sat evening to try and beat some of traffic. I know sat is start of
    Gold rush days.
Any uber archery areas might bring our new bows. Imagine the bv gun range might be packed and don't like idea of having guns left in hotel or truck

If you want to shoot there's a big public shooting range just West of Granby, FYI.

Do you fish? I don't but the wife does and she loves the Arkansas. Also if you're in BV you can take Cottonwood Pass and go to Taylor Park Reservoir or the Taylor River on the other side. Gorgeous and won't be hot because of the altitude (in fact I'd advise you to bring a jacket and/or sweater.)

Can't make any hotel recommendations because we always pull our hotel room behind the truck.

I was trying to make the excuse for a pop up. But safe want Ken and i guess storage an issue. I'm not a big Fisher, unsure what she thinks. Will ask.

I did used to hand fish out of River that ran behind the plant nursery there as a kid before i knew it was illegal. Funny how they don't run from your hand while hiding under boulders.

We usually go up to Grand Lake at least once every year for a few days, and typically stay at the Western Riviera (http://www.westernriv.com). They have motel-style and cabin-style rooms right at and facing the lake.....

Also usually rent a pontoon boat for a day and hang out/fish on Lake Granby...Both Highland Marina and Indian Peaks Marina are easy to work with and have fair prices, but you may want to check to make sure the water level is high enough before booking....

Also, if you head about 30 minutes back toward Fraser, just before you get there you can turn off and head up to Meadow Creek Reservoir, which has some good fishing/camping spots depending on time of year.....

We camped last week near Mt. Princeton to go to the hot springs. Chalk Creek Campground was excellent. Super clean, well run place. One of the nicest bathrooms I've seen at a campground. Def a good choice if you have women with you.

The range is actually a CPW public range, fairly nice but bring bug repellent. And targets/stands. It's on US40 between Hot Sulphur Springs and Parschall. OK for general shooting, but probably intended more for sighting in hunting rifles.

My daughter and I went last year, for sight-in, and there were stands then. Also covered shooting benches. Not sure but believe they had archery lanes, to the left, with the pistol ranges. It's close to where the fire was last fall.
